Grandma Cauble used to make this delicious pie using a recipe she clipped from Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, October 1955. It's a family favorite!
Ingredients:
5 to 7 Golden Delicious apples (I’ve used Gala and Macintosh as well)
1 – 9” unbaked pie crust (fits nicely in a #8 cast iron skillet)
½ c. sugar
1 t. cinnamon
½ c. sugar
¾ c. flour
1/3 c. butter or Oleo (I use butter)
Instructions:
1. Pare and slice apples in crust. Combine the ½ c. sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
2. Combine ½ c. sugar and flour; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
3. Bake in 400 degree oven for 40 minutes or until done.
*Note: unbaked pie freezes well.
